How to become an incredible storyteller in SciComm?
Is it possible to turn anyone into a storyteller as good as Neil deGrasse Tyson?
Imagine anyone—even your bitter, old uncle—being able to command a stadium's worth of people hanging onto their every word.
We did some research and figured that if we focus on a few things, getting the attention of a stadium worth of people isn’t that difficult.
Our motivation: People love stories. Stories influence people and perhaps make a difference in their lives.
But it’s not always about throwing the content to your audience and pushing it down their throats.
Being a great storyteller involves a good command of the language, knowing the proportion of speech vs pauses, understanding the modulation of verbal tone to make an impact, and keeping it engaging to avoid losing your audience.
Here are a few pointers we have jotted down and will be talking about in depth over the course of this week.
1.) limited memorization and using narrative hooks,
2.) the climax with time dilation,
3.) a hero’s perspective,
4.) vocal rhythm,
5.) blowing your own mind
6.) developing your charisma
If you develop a deep interest in storytelling, just like we do, you can access the complete minicourse of this week through the link below.
