Communicating Environmental Issues - Day 1 (free)
The interdisciplinary nature of science communication and its collaborations with fields such as journalism, education, policy-making, and advocacy makes it the perfect tool to push back against Environmental Issues with.
It is our responsibility as science communicators to raise awareness about urgent environmental issues and encourage dialogue about our climate. Through this course, you will learn how to implement the principles and tools of science communication in the context of sustainability.
Join us as we analyse case studies of science communication initiatives that have successfully influenced public opinion, policy development, and behavioural change towards environmental action.

Why is science communication the perfect tool to talk about the environmental issues that we face today? Case Study of the Day: The Story of Stuff
📋Day 2: Engaging with a Diverse Demographic
How can you reach people in remote corners of India and convey the importance and urgency of sustainability to them? Case Study of the Day: Mobile Science Exhibition
📋Day 3: Importance of Visualizing Environmental Data
Environmental research involves a lot of data, tables, and charts. We shall examine why visualizing that data is one of the most powerful ways to reach your audience. Case Study of the Day: Ed Hawkins’ Visualisations of Global Warming
📋Day 4: Experiential Approach
Science communicators widely use digital and traditional mediums of communication on a daily basis. On this day, we will take a look at how experiential approaches to communicating environmental issues can be impactful. Case Study of the Day: ANALA OUTDOORS
📋Day 5: Environmental Advocacy and Engaging Policymakers
Policymakers can have a huge impact on the environment because of the positions of power they are in. We will discuss different ways to convey this movement’s urgency to them effectively. Case Study of the Day: Centre for Science and Environment
📋Day 6: Evaluation and Impact Assessment
Every undertaking requires regular evaluations and analysis to improve how they function, and campaigns that are intended to improve the conditions of our environment are no different. Case Study of the Day: Earth Hour
